Cruise Milford Sound for two hours with Mitre Peak Cruises, the fiord’s smallest operator. Your skipper points out Mitre Peak, Stirling Falls, Seal Rock, and more while the boat gets close enough for waterfall spray. You can move between indoor and outdoor decks, use free hot drinks, and watch for seals, dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguins.

Make your own way to Milford Sound’s visitor center for a two-hour Mitre Peak Cruises sailing. A smaller boat takes you close to Bowen Falls, Mitre Peak, cliffs, seals, dolphins, and perhaps Fiordland crested penguins, with live commentary and free tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

From Whitianga Wharf, you’ll spend two hours on a purpose-built boat exploring Mercury Bay, Cathedral Cove, Hahei, Lonely Bay, islands, caves, blowholes, and volcanic rock formations. Cruise Akaroa Harbour aboard a spacious catamaran with open decks, covered seating, toilets, and onboard refreshments. Your English-speaking skipper shares Māori, European, and volcanic history while you look for Hector’s dolphins, fur seals, little penguins, albatross, and cormorants. Allow 80 to 90 minutes to reach Akaroa from Christchurch.

Walk Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne with a guide and a group of no more than 12 people. After a short film and sanctuary introduction, follow forest and wetland tracks to look for kākā, tūī, takahē, tuatara, geckos, and other native wildlife. Morning and afternoon departures are available, with admission included.

We saw and learnt a lot from our guide and you can go back the next day too on your ticket and visit by yourself without the guide . We went on the 10.00 tour going up the cable car wasn’t a problem but the free shuttle busses don’t start until 9.50 ( which is the meeting time for the tour ) but if you walk down the road, to the bus stop there were plenty of buses which…”
